In Pakistan, sesame is cultivated in around 65 districts, and it is both irrigated and rainfed. The provinces of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, and Baluchistan are known for sesame cultivation. Sesame is considered an oilseed crop and is valued for its high-quality oil, rich in protein (up to 22%). It is regarded as one of the finest oil crops with an oil content ranging from 50% to 58%. Sesame thrives in hot, dry climates, producing oil- and protein-rich seeds.
