Seasonal Straw
Seasonal hay and straws are agricultural residues, comprising dry stems and leaves left after the harvest of crops such as legumes and cereals. These straws make up a significant portion of the harvested vegetation, often accounting for nearly half of the total crop yield. While these straws are highly fibrous and indigestible by humans, they play crucial roles in agriculture and rural communities, serving a multitude of purposes.
Straws, stovers, and chaff have diverse applications within the farming industry, most notably in livestock feeding, where they contribute to the profitability of the sector. Moreover, these straws find non-agricultural uses in areas such as biofuel, construction, crafts, clothing, paper, and more. In large-scale farming, they are integral for animal feed and also play a part in the production of organic manure, historically contributing to soil fertility before the advent of inorganic fertilizers and mechanization.
SEASONAL STRAWS BY AGROCROFT
In many developing countries, seasonal straw for animals was historically considered to have little value, often being burned in the fields. However, this practice has become less common due to environmental legislation and efforts to improve the digestibility of straw.
In small-scale farming, the importance of straw bales remains significant, especially where free grazing is limited. Agrocroft International stands as one of the leading animal feed suppliers in Pakistan. Below is a list of seasonal lowes straw bales and animal feed types. If you are seeking to buy bulk straws or looking for hay suppliers near you, Agrocroft International is your top choice.
PRODUCTION CAPACITY
MONG STRAW
At Agrocroft International, we offer premium quality Mong straw for export. Our Mong straws have a protein content ranging from one to eight percent, making them an ideal choice for animal feed. The fiber content varies from 25 to 65 percent, and we are the preferred animal feed supplier for discerning customers.
All our Mong straw supplies undergo rigorous testing at a feed laboratory and are carefully balanced to meet the dietary needs of farm animals. Agrocroft International is one of the major animal feed exporters in Pakistan.
In general, Mong straw offers superior feed quality compared to other straws, making it an excellent choice for animal feed. Our straw surpasses the quality of other Mong straw available in the market. We also provide Year-old straw, which is often found to be more palatable than fresh Mong straw.
A high-quality Mong straw bale can constitute up to 75% of a cow’s diet when properly supplemented. Mong straw is digested at a slower rate than hay, allowing cows to consume less straw. As a general rule, the maximum recommended daily intake is 1.25% of a cow’s body weight in straw.
PEANUT STRAW
Peanut, a major oilseed crop in Pakistan, generates large quantities of leaves and stems as by-products at harvest. These Peanut straw materials are used to feed livestock, particularly milk cows and other farm animals. Studies have indicated that Peanut straw hay can serve as a partial substitute for concentrates in the ration of milk cows and various other farm animals. In many regions of Pakistan, Peanut straw is a commonly used feed for a variety of farm animals, especially cows.
The Digestible Crude Protein (DCP) value of Peanut straw is superior to that of many non-leguminous hays. It is comparable to the DCP values of leguminous hay bales, such as cowpea or Chickpeas hay straws. In terms of energy value, Peanut straw is superior to most other grass hays. Peanut straw can be effectively fed alone or in conjunction with wheat bran and wheat straw to fulfill the essential nutritional requirements of cows and other milk-producing animals, potentially increasing daily production by up to 5 kilograms. CHICKPEAS STRAW
Chickpea straw stands as a significant by-product, abundantly available after the chickpea grain crop season concludes. Despite limited information about its nutritional value, experiments conducted by Agrocroft International have determined the fiber and non-fiber components, dry matter degradability, and metabolizable energy (ME) of chickpea straw for animal feed.
We offer premium-quality Chickpea Straw, which is an important grain legume valued for its edible seeds. The plant’s characteristics include rapid branching and growth, reaching a height between 20 and 60 centimeters, occasionally up to 1 meter. Chickpea processing generates several by-products, such as low-grade and culled chickpeas, bran, crop residues (husks, straw), and chickpea hay, which are used for animal feeding worldwide. Agrocroft International is the foremost supplier and exporter of high-quality chickpea straw from Pakistan.
